Sunday 8th November 2009

Today is a sad day. It’s a day when we remember those who lost their lives ensuring that we would keep ours. It’s a day when we become solemn and remember what would have been. Today is also a day when we remember those family members and friends we have lost over the last year.

We should always remember, not only those who fought in the wars and in all conflicts around the world, but we should always remember our friends and family. We should never forget.

In some way the person we have lost will have informed the way we live our lives. They may have taught us how to do something in a certain way. We may have seen them helping others and we made it our goal to be like them.

I try to model my life on the person of Jesus who we read about in the Bible. He was a person who was full of compassion; who showed love and care to others; who taught great and wonderful teachings; who gave his life for others.

What better role models would we need in our lives than people who taught us the attributes that bring love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, which incidentally are all ‘fruits of the Holy Spirit.’

My prayer this week is that we will remember with wonderful memories and great celebration those who taught us so much.

With love and prayers, Richard.
