Pause for Thought…

"May the God of peace...make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen." (Hebrews 13:20-21)

The book of Hebrews closes with an important reminder about the great resources we have in Christ: God gave us His Word. He sent us His Spirit. He established a Covenant Relationship with us. He sent Jesus to be our Great High Priest. Hebrews says these and other spiritual resources were given to "make you complete in every good work to do His will."

God doesn't want us just to experience partial victories, temporary relief, or a few blessings. He wants us to be complete! However, this does not happen instantly or overnight. It involves a process. As we make mistakes, God corrects us. When we fail, He encourages and teaches us. We mature as we absorb more of His Word and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us, protect us, and empower us.

The Lord is at work in our lives through the things we do. He has an assignment for each of us. He has given us unique gifts, talents, and resources. And He acts to make us complete so we can serve Him and use the blessings He's given us to be a blessing to others. Today, realize all the ways God is at work in your life. Set your heart on cooperating with God in this great process. Accept nothing less than being "complete." Dedicate your life to being a blessing to others, as the Lord has blessed you.

Collect

Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness and to put on the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which your Son Jesus Christ came to us in great humility; that on the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
